International consultative meeting on research and development technology transfer for sustainable agriculture and food security in low-income countries

Ministry of Technology and Science – Zambia, National Institute for Scientific and Industrial Research, in collaboration with the Centre for Science and Technology of the Non-Aligned Movement from India and the Human Science Research Council from South Africa, hosted the International Consultative Meeting for Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security at Protea Arcades, Lusaka on 8-9 May 2024. The event brought together local and international scientists from various countries including Zambia, India, South Africa, Malaysia, Nepal, Mauritius, Myanmar, Egypt, Zimbabwe, and Palestine, among others. During the meeting, these experts engaged in discussions about solutions to address climate change and its impact on food security.
The Minister of Technology and Science, Honorable Felix Chipota Mutati graced the event, in his speech, he urged scientists to develop solutions that tackle the challenges posed by climate change, particularly in the context of sustainable agriculture. Highlighting the importance of addressing the issue, Minister Mutati emphasized his government’s interest in finding innovative approaches to combat challenges caused by drought, which has been declared a national disaster by His Excellency, President Hakainde Hichilema.
Highlights from the Conference
